What is Azamethiphos?
Azamethiphos is an organophosphorus pesticide. It is a veterinary drug used to control parasites in Atlantic salmon farming.
In the meanwhile, picolinophos is also an acaricide with insecticidal activity. It is a contact and stomach poisoning agent with good lasting effect and wide insecticidal spectrum. It can be used in cotton, fruit trees, vegetables and livestock, public health and households, preventing all kinds of mites and stupid moths, aphids, leaf lice, small heartworms, potato beetles and flies, cockroaches, etc. This agent is low-toxic to humans and animals, and is a highly efficient, low-toxic, and low-residue safe drug. It is a World Health Organization (WHO) listed as a recommended organophosphorus pesticide. It can be made into emulsions, sprays, powders, wettable powders and soluble granules (Mianlongning) and so on. Among them, picoline granular poison bait is especially suitable for the prevention and control of flies and other sanitary pests.
How does Azamethiphos work?
Azamethiphos works through anti-cholinesterase activity, inhibiting the transmission of nerve signals in sea lice, leading to paralysis and clearance. In the United Kingdom (especially Scotland), dogfish farming has achieved an overwhelming victory with foreign parasites, such as sea lice on Atlantic salmon. This product replaces the use of the dangerous "red list" pollutant dichlorvos.
The function and usage of Azamethiphos
Azamethiphos is a new type of organophosphorus insecticide with high efficiency and low toxicity. It is mainly stomach poison and has a contact effect. It mainly kills the adults of flies, cockroaches, ants and some insects. Because these adult insects have the habit of licking and feeding, drugs that act through stomach toxins are more effective. If combined with an inducer, it can increase the ability to induce flies by 2 to 3 times. One-time spray according to the specified concentration, the reduction rate of flies can reach 84% to 97%. Picolinophos also has the characteristics of a long residual period. Spread it on cardboard, hang it in the house or stick it on the wall, the residual effect can reach 10-12 weeks, and spray it on the wall and ceiling for 6-8 weeks.
Animals absorb almost all of the picolinophos after ingestion. 12 hours after the goat was taken orally, 76% of the drug was excreted in urine, 5% in feces, and 0.5% in milk. The residue in the tissue is low, the muscle is 0.022mg/kg, the kidney is 0.14～0.4mg/kg; the hens take 5mg/kg of medicated feed, the residual amount after 22 hours, the blood is 0.1mg/kg, and the kidney is 0.6mg /kg. It can be seen that the drug has very little residue in meat, fat, and eggs, and there is no need to specify a drug withdrawal period. In addition to adult flies, this product also has a good killing effect on cockroaches, ants, fleas, bed bugs, etc. It is mainly used to kill adult flies in stables, chicken coops, etc.; it is also used to kill flies and cockroaches in rooms, restaurants, food factories and other places.
Does Azamethiphos pollute the environment?
Azamethiphos is soluble in water, which means it will degrade within a few days (5-6 days) after release and produce non-toxic conversion products in the process. Therefore, it will not pollute the environment.
Is it safe to eat food processed with Azamethiphos?
Azamethiphos does not accumulate in animals. The product will be broken down and excreted within 10 days after use. But try to avoid eating treated animals during this period.
